5 Awesome Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

From the classics like Big Thunder Mountain to the latest addition, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force in the Avengers Campus, here’s our guide to the best thrill rides and rollercoasters at Disneyland Paris.

Extra Magic Hour

Remember if you are staying at one of the Disneyland Paris hotels (or have a Magic Plus or Infinity annual pass) then you can access the parks one hour before the gates open for regular guests. This is a great time to ride some of the most popular rollercoasters at Disneyland Paris – Big Thunder Mountain, Crush’s Coaster, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and Avenger’s Assemble typically welcome guests during Extra Magic Hour. Extra Magic Hour is one of the main perks of staying at one of the Disneyland Paris hotels.

If you want to stay in a Disney hotel then hotel and ticket packages can be reserved through the Disneyland Paris website and this will include access to Extra Magic Hour during your stay – check hotel prices and availability here!

Extra Magic Hour is a benefit to hotel guests across the Disneyland Paris Hotels:

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: if this rollercoaster seems familar, there’s a good chance you might have ridden it before! Prior to its Marvel retheme to become Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, it was originally the Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster which operated in Disneyland Paris between 2002 and 2019.

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: With its minimum height requirement of 1.07m, the ride is accessible to riders from age 4 or 5 and up – our 4 year old loved it! Crush’s Coaster is very popular with younger park goers and has one of the longest queues in the park. If you have access during Extra Magic Hour (you will have this if you are staying in a Disney hotel or have an annual pass) then Crush’s Coaster is a must do during this quierter period in the park.

Legend has it that a mining company was set up in the 1850s when gold was discovered. After some strange happenings, the mine was feared to be haunted and the area became a ghost town. The mine has reopened and riders board a runaway mine train cart for a wild ride on the Big Thunder Railroad.

The 1.5km track dives and climbs, swooping underneath rivers, through caves filled with bats and explosive dynamite. Big Thunder Mountain reaches speeds of 30mph as it propels through the darkness with much of the ride indoors.

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: With its minimum height requirement of 1.02m, the ride is typically accessible to riders from age 4 and up. This is our 4 year old’s favourite ride in the entire park and he insists we ride it multiple times a day when we visit!

If you have access during Extra Magic Hours (you will have this if you are staying in a Disney hotel or have an annual pass) then Big Thunder Mountain is a must do during this quierter period in the park. When queues are long it’s also worth buying Disney Premier Access fast passes for this ride as they give almost instant access.
