Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios is home to the fantastically themed Roundup Rodeo BBQ. For Toy Story fans, Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a magical place to dine and it really does feel like you’re walking into a toy rodeo in Andy’s backyard!
For those of you considering dining at Roundup Rodeo BBQ, we wanted to share our review and experience!
Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Located in Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios, Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a Toy Story-themed restaurant. The all-you-care-to-eat family-style restaurant is the newest dining addition to Hollywood Studios.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ tip: Roundup Rodeo BBQ is not a character dining experience.
Guests become honorary toys and, surrounded by life sized toys, see the world through their eyes.
Rodeo Roundup BBQ Reservations
As a recent addition to Hollywood Studios, demand is high for reservations at Rodeo Roundup BBQ and they are usually snapped up shortly after the advance dining window opens.
Guests with a Disney Resort Hotel reservation can make reservations 60 days + length of stay (up to a maximum of 10 nights) in advance. All other guests can make reservations up to 60 days in advance, with reservations opening at 6am EST 60 days out.
We always sign up for Mouse Dining – Mouse Dining is a dining alert service where you can set text alerts for your preferred days and times. It’s a Disney must-have for us and we always manage to secure our reservations by setting Mouse Dining alerts.
You sign up and set alerts for your desired reservations (e.g. lunch at Roundup Rodeo BBQ). As soon as a cancellation is made, the dining alert service will alert you via email and/or text so you can reserve it immediately.
There is a free service (email only, 6 alerts) but we use the monthly subscription ($9, email and text alerts, includes international texts) in the months leading up to our Walt Disney World visits.
Food and Drinks at Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Food is served family-style at Roundup Rodeo BBQ. Meals are all-you-care-to-eat but the portions were so huge we didn’t need any extra servings!
Bread Service
The meal begins with Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits with Sweet Pepper Jelly – these cheddar biscuits are one of the highlights of the meal.
Round Up Some Chow!
The house-smoked meat platter includes 4 types of meat – ribs, beef brisket, pork sausage and BBQ chicken – although their menu listing is a little more creative! They are described as Evil Dr Smoked Ribs, Buttercup’s Beef Brisket, There’s a Sausage in My Boot – Fire-grilled Pork Sausage, and BBQ Chicken – with Style!
The ribs were a clear winner for us!
We were also offered salmon as an alternative to one of the meats and it was another surprise highlight.
The food is accompanied by 3 types of BBQ sauce, classic, spicy and sweet, on the table.
There is also a plant-based option, Trixie’s Plant-based Trio, which includes Combat Carloflower with Harissa Drizzle and Walnut Gremolata, Scrumptious Bratwurst and Rip Roarin’ Rib Chop.
Reach for the Sides
The meat platter is accompanied by ‘Reach for the Sides’, a melody of 5 sides -Potato Barrels, The Claw! Veggie Slaw, Slinky Doooooooooog’s Mac & Cheese, Buckin’ Baked Beans and Cowpoke Corn on the Cob.
The potato barrels, veggie slaw and baked beans are plant-based.
Get a Wiggle on your Greens!
The platters are accompanied by two greens and both are plant based. First up is a Rootin’ Tootin tomato salad with cucumbers, pickled red onion, white balsamic vinaigrette and Wheezy’s watermelon salad with fresh mint.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ tip: we had a third salad, a Rex’s Romaine and Kale Salad (the middle dish), but it has since been removed from the menu.
Chuckwagon Desserts
There are 5 Chuckwagon Desserts: Bo’s Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake, Billy’s Chocolate Silk Pie, Goat’s Apple Pie, Gruff’s Peach-Strawberry Pie and Cupcake à la Forky.
Guests choose one dessert each and Gruff’s Peach-Strawberry Pie is the only plant option.
For theming, the Cupcake à la Forky is a clear winner! The chocolate cupcake has a gooey chocolate center and is topped with a sugary cookie.
The other desserts are best described as a pie in a jar. While they are flavorful, we all agreed these are pretty unremarkable.
Drinks
Soft drinks and water are included in the meal price. Speciality drinks, alcohol and cocktail are available to purchase at an additional cost.
Theming and Decor
Roundup Rodeo BBQ is one of the best-themed restaurants in the entirety of Disney World and the decor is incredible!
The story goes that Andy has created a rodeo area for his toys and it is in full swing in Roundup Rodeo BBQ!
Guests become one of Andy’s honorary toys and, from the moment you enter the restaurant, you are surrounded by life sized toys as you view the world from their perspective.
Andy is Coming!
During dinner, you might hear an announcement indicating that Andy or Sid are on their way! Cast Members and guests freeze for Andy and pretend to hide from Sid! It’s a fun addition to dining at Roundup Rodeo BBQ!
