As soon as we heard about the SkyBar and its incredible views of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur we knew we had to go and check it out! The opportunity to sip cocktails while admiring the majestic towers was too good to miss! We retrieved our travelling finest from our rucksacks (not easy after a few months on the road!) and set off for the SkyBar ready to quench our cocktail thirst!
The SkyBar
The SkyBar is perched on top of the Traders Hotel and, after a short elevator ride to the 33rd floor, we stepped into the open air rooftop bar. Having spotted the window alcoves with their panoramic view of the Petronas Towers we were smitten! Luckily our server sensed my discreet excitement (or possibly very obvious excitement depending on which way you look at it!) for the stunning view and seated us in a window booth!
The SkyBar is stylish and, when we went during the day, the vibe was quite laid back. A very tempting swimming pool separates the two sides of the bar and I made a mental note not to fall in after a few cocktails! We hadn’t brought our swimming gear but we did have fun dipping our toes in the water! There were lots of people chilling out in the water between cocktails until the pool closed in the evening.
Mind your step! Inside the SkyBar:
As the evening approached the bar got busier and the crowd more dressed up while a DJ set the party atmosphere as the lights went down. It’s definitely a much more hip spot in the evening that during the day!
The View
The view is breathtaking! I’ve always assumed that the pictures I’ve seen of the Petronas Towers have been heavily edited because they look so amazing. It turns out they’re actually just amazing in real life! The SkyBar has unobstructed views of the Towers and the KLCC park below and I could easily gaze out the window for hours!

The Cocktails
We settled into our window booth and, after lots of ogling at the amazing view, checked out the cocktail menu. The bar offers a nice selection of champagne, martini and classic cocktails and we opted for our old favourite, a classic mojito! I was a little sad to see our mojitos arrive in a normal glass as I like a bit of ceremony around drinking cocktails! They were definitely tasty but where are the fancy cocktail glasses?!
Maps and Mojitos!
Overall
The SkyBar is a fantastic spot for admiring the city skyline and the incredible Petronas Towers and we loved the panoramic views of the towers and the city below. The bar itself is very cool when the sun sets and the lights go down and it’s a really fun place to spend an evening in Kuala Lumpar.
Happy posing!

Ooh this post came at the perfect time. We’ll be in KL in two weeks and I don’t have any idea of what to do or where to go haha. This is perfect! Thanks 🙂
Excellent! Have a good trip, hope you get to sample some of the cocktails!
It’s so great that you got the window booth. The view is something special.
The Petronas Towers are spectacular, I loved the view!
Great view! I’ve been to KL a few times but never went there – went to a couple of rooftop bars in Singapore though. They are definitely the best places to drink but so expensive!
There’s definitely a premium on the view! We’re just back from Bangkok and it was exactly the same – 6 or 7 dollars for a beer that was 50 cent everywhere else! Totally worth it though!
Well worth a isit to see that view
